IIT Kharagpur Junior Research Fellow Recruitment 2026 – Apply Online

Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur (IIT Kharagpur) has announced 6 vacancies for the Junior Research Fellow post on a contract basis for 36 Months or termination of the project, whichever is earlier. Eligible applicants holding a Post Graduate Degree in Basic Science OR Graduate/Post Graduate Degree in Professional Course selected through CSIR-UGC NET/GATE or equivalent national level examinations by Central Government Departments/Agencies can apply online. Who Can Apply

Candidates must meet the essential qualification criteria and possess demonstrable, hands-on experience in at least one of the seven specified technical areas (Computational Fluid Dynamics, Experimental Research and Propulsion Testing, Instrumentation and Data Acquisition, Control Systems and System Identification, Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, Signal Processing and Data Analysis, or Applied Physics, Plasma, and Advanced Diagnostics).

Essential Qualification

Post Graduate Degree in Basic Science OR Graduate / Post Graduate Degree in Professional Course selected through a process described through any one of the following: a) Scholars who are selected through National Eligibility Tests – CSIR-UGC NET including lectureship (Assistant Professorship) and GATE. b) The selection process through National level examinations conducted by Central Government Departments and their Agencies and Institutions such as DST, DBT, DAE, DOS, DRDO, MoE, ICAR, ICMR, IIT, IISc, IISER, NISER etc.

Age Relaxation

Age limit is relaxable up to 5 years in the case of SC/ST/OBC/Physically Handicapped / Visually Handicapped and female applicants.

Pay and Tenure

The consolidated compensation per month is up to Rs. 37,000, depending on qualification and experience. The tenure of the appointment is 36 months or until the termination of the project, whichever is earlier.
